International Bioethics Conference – Oviedo Convention in Central and Eastern European Countries, Bratislava, September 24 – 25, 2009

General Information

Institute of Medical Ethics and Bioethics n. f. (IMEB), in collaboration with the Slovak Medical Association, was entrusted with the local organization of the conference. This was the Council of Europe (CoE) ‘regional conference’ organized within the CoE DEBRA Program.

The aim of the meeting was to study the impact of Oviedo Convention (Convention on Human Rights and Bioethics) upon the developments of legislation and good practices in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

The prime responsible organizer of the conference was the Secretariat of the Steering Committee on Bioethics (CDBI) CoE (Strasbourg).

The conference was held under the auspices of Mr. Richard Raši, minister of health of the Slovak Republic (SR).

Delegations of countries - Members States of CoE, with special focus on the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
